NEED SOME ADVICE? Here's what we can offer!

We CAN NOT and WILL NOT give you medical advice. That is your health care provider’s job. This is an awareness and support site only. That being said, here are some suggestions we have:

1. Discuss any concerns you have with your health care provider. They are the experts. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You are paying them to be an advocate for the lives of you and your baby. Part of what you are paying them for is to answer your questions.

2. Know where your doctor stands (and why) on prescribing progesterone supplements for low progesterone during pregnancy.

3. If you have any doubts in your mind or concerns that aren’t being answered, you can get a second opinion.

4. Because we feel this should be standard prenatal testing as soon as a woman knows she is pregnant, we suggest you get your progesterone level tested AS SOON as you find out you are pregnant. You may have to insist on this being done and your insurance company may not pay for it. Ask them ahead of time if they do.

5. Educate yourself on this issue. Read the stories posted on this web site, read information provided through the links we have posted and do research outside of the information provided on this site.

6. Dr. John Lee, who was considered an expert and international authority in the use of natural  progesterone  http://www.johnleemd.com/index.html, has given information on what forms of progesterone and testing are effective.
7. We get questions about progesterone cream. Here is our stance: We stress that you need to discuss your progesterone options with your health care practitioner. There are several links that we provide, for informative purposes only, on our site that advertise and/or sell progesterone cream. We do not recommend using these if you are pregnant. Dr. Lee said that not all creams are created equal and some just don't work that well or at all. Besides, these creams are marketed for hormonal balance of women who are not pregnant. When a woman is pregnant, you just can't take chances with that baby's life. The worst thing would be to be on a cream that's not helping them and they thought it was, or a cream that has ingredients in it that could be harmful to a pregnancy. There are a lot of great herbs out there that can help with hormonal balance but they can be very dangerous in pregnancy. Also many women with this problem need to be on much higher concentrations of natural progesterone than the creams might be providing them. We strongly urge women in this case to discuss their options with their doctor and if necessary be on a prescribed natural progesterone that will be in the amount they need it in. If you do happen to be on a progesterone cream for hormonal balance and find out you are pregnant while you are still on the cream, CALL YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY. DO NOT stop the cream until your doctor has given advice. Suddenly stopping any form of progesterone may cause miscarriage.
